“Faces” that Made Manitou

“Faces” that Made Manitou Featured at Manitou Springs Heritage Center
“History is about people and people make our history” is the theme behind the newest exhibit Faces of Manitou open daily during regular hours at the Manitou Springs Heritage Center.
The volunteers who operate the Heritage Center conceived this exhibit when the museum opened, but it has taken until now to gather biographical information and find an opening in the exhibit schedule to present it. The concept is to provide biographies and photos or images of people in Manitou Springs’ history that contributed to the community – large and small. “People weave the history of our community, much like clothe” stated Manitou Springs Heritage Center board member Michelle Anthony. “Their stories are the threads – some are big, like Dr. William Bell, and some are smaller or less well-known, but they all have a place in making the tapestry of the town we love today.” This will be an ongoing exhibit with changes to the
featured “faces” over time. A book of all the stories will be kept in the exhibit so eventually there will be a large number of biographies that, as a whole, tell the story of Manitou Springs. If you know of someone who should be included in the exhibit, please submit the name to the Heritage Center or, better yet, provide a two page biography and photo.
